I’ve just read through this article and it made me smile….
They are saying how there is a new breed of green people developing…. “look at me environmentalists”… the people who are taking their kids to yoga, buy something at the local health food shop, may be even get an organic box delivered, but do anything that really takes effort (compost bins, recycling…..) and I wonder… would they?
OK, some of them are Prius buying but more because of what the car says than the real green ethos behind it “look at me… I’m saving the planet”
The article talks a lot about people not caring about money, just the environment, which I think is spot on.
When we were discussing ecolocal with various family members, my mother made a very valid point “there are too many look-at-me’s around…” people who take their young kids to yoga or music sessions, may be have an organic box delivered (but waste most of it) but still drive a 4×4 and jet off round the world without thinking twice.
I think that’s spot on and this article just emphasises it further.
